Mi Tanda

Mi Tanda

Traditional savings, reimagined.

About Mi Tanda

Tandas—also known as ROSCAs (Rotating Savings and Credit Associations)—are informal, community-based savings mechanisms widely used across Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and immigrant communities worldwide. In a tanda, a group of individuals agrees to contribute a fixed amount of money at regular intervals. At each interval (or "round"), one member receives the total pooled amount. The cycle continues until all members have received a payout.

In emerging economies, where access to formal banking is limited or mistrusted, tandas are a critical financial tool for liquidity, savings, and community bonding. However, these systems are vulnerable to:

  • 1Default risk (members not continuing after receiving their payout)
  • 2Lack of transparency
  • 3Trust in organizers (often informal and undocumented)
  • 4Cash-based friction and security issues

Secure & Trustless

Smart contracts ensure all funds are secure and distributed fairly without middlemen.

Vision

MiTanda is building a financial bridge between traditional community models and onchain infrastructure. It allows users in underserved regions to benefit from programmable money, trustless automation, and reputation-based coordination—without needing banks, paperwork, or borders.

Base Logo

Built on Base

Base is a secure, low-cost blockchain powered by Coinbase, that makes it easy and fun to use crypto apps. Think of it as the internet for digital money-faster, cheaper, and open to everyone.

Why Blockchain?

MiTanda migrates this time-tested model onchain to enhance:

  • 🔒Trustlessness – Smart contracts on Base enforce contributions and payouts.
  • 👁️Transparency – All activity is public and auditable.
  • 🛡️Security – Chainlink VRF ensures verifiable randomness in payout order.
  • 🌍Global Access – Anyone with a wallet and stablecoins can join.

About USDC

USD Coin (USDC) is a stablecoin designed to be pegged to the US dollar and redeemable on a 1:1 basis for US dollars, backed by dollar denominated assets held in segregated accounts with US regulated financial institutions.

About USDC on Base

MiTanda uses USDC on Base as the main currency for all contributions and payouts. USDC is a stablecoin backed 1:1 by U.S. dollars, offering a secure and stable way to participate in savings circles—no crypto volatility involved.

More stablecoins will be supported soon.

Tanda Structures

Two Tanda Types

Public Tandas
  • 🌐Open to all users.
  • 🌐Contribution caps (e.g. 10–50 USDC) to reduce exit risk post-payout.
  • 🌐Ideal for onboarding new users.
Reputation-Gated Tandas
  • 🔒Require a Talent Protocol Talent Score above a set threshold.
  • 🔒Encourages continued participation through social collateral: your onchain rep is at stake.
  • 🔒Suitable for larger stakes and longer cycles.

Two Tanda Modes

Staff Curated Tandas

Managed by MiTanda's core team. Parameters such as contribution amount, cycle length (2-week or 30-day), and type (public or reputation-gated) are defined in advance.

🎲Payout order is assigned using Chainlink VRF once all slots are filled.
Private Tandas by Invitation

Any user can deploy a tanda with custom rules:

  • 👥Number of participants
  • 💰Contribution size
  • ✉️Invitation-only access via wallet address whitelisting
  • 🎲Payout order still assigned with Chainlink VRF for fairness

Example: A 10-Person Tanda

  • Cycle Length: 2 weeks
  • Participants: 10
  • Contribution: 25 USDC per person per cycle
  • Total Pot per Round: 250 USDC

Each participant contributes 25 USDC every 2 weeks. At the start of the cycle, once the group is full, Chainlink VRF assigns a random payout order (e.g., Alice is #3, Bob is #7, etc.). Every 2 weeks, one person receives the 250 USDC. Smart contracts enforce:

  • Timely deposits
  • Automatic payout to the scheduled user
  • Grace period logic + penalties if someone misses a contribution
